I’ve never understood why people keep getting told they are not the right age for Lasik. Eyes change when people are growing taller, as they lengthen. That is during the teenage years. Regular astigmatism is present from the formation of the cornea in the womb. There are some factors that can change your eyes later in life, but they are not common. For most patients, Lasik can be done 18 and up, and usually the eyes aren’t changing, it’s whoever is doing the measuring who is changing. When I do Lasik, I want to get the true prescription for the eyes by dilating them, and then accurately treat them with a laser. Then the vast majority of patients stay stable after that.
